Fall has arrived in the Midwest and with it, pumpkins!
Pumpkin decorations, pumpkin pie, pumpkin donuts and the perennial favorite - #PSL! Nothing makes a fall day cozier than the smell of fresh-baked pumpkin pie wafting from the kitchen. But as a busy mom of 2 girls and 2 fur-boys, my schedule – not to mention my waistline – don’t often allow the time to sit back enjoy the fall pumpkin craze.
Until I came across this recipe! It is quick, easy and filled the house with that pumpkin spice smell plus the pups got to reap the rewards (and calories)! Add in a little Durvite and this recipe really knocks it out of the park by providing essential amino acids and Omega 3 fatty acids to help keep Taco and Gus looking their best!
With 6 simple ingredients, these Pumpkin Pup Treats can be whipped up in no time. Durvite isn’t required, but does have nutritional benefits and adds to the treat-texture. You can pick it up at any local farm and home retailer – check here to find one near you.
Once you have your ingredients gathered, grab a helper – 5-year-olds work well – and mix up your wet ingredients followed by the cinnamon. Don’t forget to preheat the oven to 350 degrees!
Add in the flour and then the Durvite. Continue stirring until a dough forms.
Drop teaspoon sized dough balls onto a greased cookie sheet.
Flatten the dough balls with a greased cup or spoon and pop into the oven for 30-40 minutes or until they reach the desired crispness.
30 minutes is a long time to wait, so treat your audience to some spoon lickings. The final product was PUP-APPROVED in our house!

Nothing says fall like the smell of these fresh from the oven pumpkin pup treats!

INGREDIENTS:

2 eggs
-
1 15oz can pumpkin (NOT pie filling)

2 tbsp honey
-
1 tsp cinnamon
-
3 cups flour
- 1 cup of Durvite (can substitute 1 cup of flour)
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet and set aside.
- Mix eggs, pumpkin, honey and cinnamon in a bowl until well combined.
- Add in flour and Durvite and continue stirring until dough forms.
- Drop teaspoon of dough onto prepared sheet and flatten with greased cup or spoon.
- Bake for 30-40 min or until desired crispness.
NOTE: Durvite feeding directions can be found here. Each treat contains less than 1 tsp of Durvite. Treats should always be fed in moderation as a part of balanced diet for your pet. Do not feed to your pet if they have sensitivities to any listed ingredients.
