If so, please keep reading… As Durvet’s Companion Animal & Hobby Farm Brand Manager, you will be responsible for achieving our objectives and customer expectations related to bringing high value products to market as well as meeting ongoing expectations on existing products. You will also be responsible for vendor relationships and various marketing functions related to your assigned categories of products. In addition, you must be able to roll up your sleeves and ensure that the details are taken care of.

Position summary

The Brand Manager – Hobby Farm is responsible for the development and management of new and existing products within the companion animal, hobby farm, and rural lifestyle segments. The position develops and champions brand strategies for Durvet and its vendors to ensure Company goals are met.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership in the development of marketing and sales support materials specific to Companion Animal and Hobby Farm products; maintains a keen eye for detail and visual interest
- Develop and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships; establish goals and rebate opportunities with key vendors
- Develop and define key elements to marketing campaigns based on product portfolio, market segments and conditions, and profitability; develop a comprehensive annual and extended marketing plan to achieve profitability goals
- Identify new potential markets for expansion and introduces new products into the marketplace; develop timelines for new product launches and continuously improves the launch process
- Develop unique trade names for new products and oversee registration of the trademark
- Complete annual sales and expense budgets for assigned products; identify weak areas of product lines and introduce new products to extend the line offering
- Strive to be an “expert” on assigned product lines and where they are sold; gather customer insight and present data to back-up findings
- Review sales trends, develop programs and specials to promote products at trade shows; assist the Marketing Manager with yearly trade show planning; attend various shows to support customers and product lines
- Consolidate and validate sales forecasts in support of Purchasing Department; work with Purchasing and Sales to manage short-dated or slow moving inventory
- Communicate effectively in a manner consistent with delivering superior service to both internal and external customers
- Assists in regulatory compliance and issue resolution

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related discipline.
- 10 or more years’ experience in marketing/sales or product management; preferably 5 years at a product manager level
- Animal health industry experience strongly preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to solve problems and seek solutions with minimal supervision
- Overnight travel as needed to support Durvet activities
- Ability to use various standardized word processing and spreadsheet software required; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; analytical skills required
